Hey! I live in the city and I love it! Tah-dah! Introducing Light Rail to Minneapolis, MN! Wes and I went out and joined the masses (and I do mean masses)
who rode the light-rail for free on the day of its Grand Opening.
It was more fun than I had ever imagined.
I am not the type of person to get excited about going and standing in long lines on hot days to see fantastic sites and ride rides, but this was a very happy day.
There were entertainers, food, local vendors, a book with coupons to all sorts of local places, and just general happiness at every stop. One stop had a local folk band, one stop had women on stilts, one stop had some people dressed up in odd mouse or gopher type outfits. They kept waving, chasing each other and bumping into the glass walls. I would be hard pressed to say they were good, but I vividly remember them, so I guess that is something. It seemed odd to have rat-like creatures running around the very fist day though.
Come to Minneapolis! Take the Light rail downtown, or to the Mall of America, or to the Airport, or to the Farmers Market!
Oh, it is such a beautiful city in the warm months.
Sometimes laziness turns out to be the most productive thing. For example, I have been waiting to get a digital camera for my whole life. Just sitting around waiting, trying to decide if I want one, or if I want just an old school camera, or if I want a super awesome digital camera or if I want a small tiny chic camera. Not having the resources to do everything, or the gusto to do something, brought me to the end of May when my sweet husband presented me with a camera phone. (Did I mention that I had also been hemming and hawing about what cell phone, when, where, what plan, who wha whe hem...).
And now look at me. I have a camera phone. And now look at the blog machine, it has the ability to hold my pictures up for all to see.
Where to begin? Oh yes...
This was a nice day. We were in Grayson Kentucky, home of Kentucky Christian College, and we were having some pre-show root beer floats and talking at the local fish club before our show. A nice gentlemen who worked their kept asking us things like, "Do you need anymore napkins?", "Pretty nice weather today, huh?" and "I think you folks need some hats...."
Yes. Yes we did need hats. We all wore them proudly, except Mike who, as you can see, is wearing his hat with a bad-ditude. Sweet.
Oh, and you've all met Hiro, right? Our Keyboardist/DJ. I'll tell him hello for you.
I hope to talk here again soon. This is the summer of business and doing-shows-in-remote-locations-without-internet-access.
One day there will be free wi-fi down every highway... (what? ... a cell phone? ...access the internet? no.. that's just crazy talk.)
slowly getting there,
Jenica Jun.
