Rough night for our Ducky friends.

Last night I went outside to check on the duck eggs that were left in our planter over the weekend.

I discovered that I had miscounted.

There weren't four eggs, there were five. But, that was not the case this morning when I went out to check on our new friends.

Some time during the night some thing ate four of the eggs. Their shells were broken and the yokes were spread all over the nest.

So I burried the other eggs and took "Five" inside the house. It was covered with dirt and, sadly, the yokes from the other eggs. I cleaned Five off and put it in a box with some old towels. I placed a lamp over the box and a water bottle under the towels.

I'm hoping that it all turns out for Five.

I'll keep you all posted.

Duck: The eggs.

Last night some good friends stopped by the house for pizza and a movie. These friends go by the name of Dan and Jess Scott. For those that are not in the know Dan is 1/3 of a rock and roll outfit called Live In Japan.

When the Scotts walked in the door the first question Dan asked was, "Who laid the eggs?" I was fairly sure that I hadn't so I told him, "It wasn't me," and then tried to figure out what in the world he was talking about.

Dan looked like a guy who had really truly seen some eggs. Plus, people don't normally lie about eggs. My curiosity piqued I got up from the couch and looked to where it was that Dan had said he saw them.

Sure enough, right outside our front door, laying in a freshly dug hole in our planter* were 4 eggs.

We quickly ruled out the option that these eggs had been laid by any member of our house, and figured what with the feathers and down strewn about that this was the work of the neighborhood ducks.

All in all it's nice to know the ducks think of our planter as a worthy location to start their family. I wish them the best.

I'll keep you up to date with the progress of our new friends and let you know where the babies are registered.

*Technically to be a planter it helps to have plants in it. Ours doesn't, so you'll have to trust me when I say that I was just about to fill the planter with plants. I I think I'm going to wait until it's a little less croweded.

I stubbed my toe.

Several days ago something tragic happened to me: I stubbed my big toe.

Now, I know what you're thinking. "Nate, Why didn't you tell us about this sooner?" To be honest, I wanted to. I had a grand plan to dedicate my blog to tracking the healing process of my toe.

But then something unexpected happned. My toe healed quickly. Now it seems like it might be a bit boreing to talk about my toe.

If anyone feels let down, I apologize. If I ever stub my toe again I'll make sure to do a better job.

Thank you for your support.

Why "soup"?

My short answer would be, "I don't know." My long answer would be, "I'm not really sure."

One thing I do know: While you are here at my blog I want you to have the most fun you've ever had...at say, my blog.

Oh, we'll talk about many exciting things in the future I'm sure. Witty remarks will be exchanged. From time to time you'll feel informed, frustrated, maybe even dizzy. But we'll pull through together. After all, that's why blogs were invented right? To bring us all together. No, wait. That was email. I don't really know why blogs where invented.

The thing is, we're here. Together. So, let's enjoy this crazy deal one piping hot bowl of fun at a time. I..uh..sorry.
