Today I fly down to Georgia to see my brother Josh graduate from Army National Guard boot camp. It should prove to be an interesting experience. I must admit, I have never been quite so proud of my younger brother than I am right now. It is not just because he did something "on his own." It's not even because of some great physical and mental accomplishment. It has more to do with the fact that Josh admires our nation's military system and the work it has accomplished in its history and is excited to be a part of it. People often ask me, "Does he realize that he may have to go overseas when he's done with basic training?" My answer has always been, "Yeah...he's pretty sure that he WILL go." He knows what he's getting into and he supports it. As do most of the men and women that volunteer their time and life to the protection of our freedom. And for this reason, I am thrilled to attend the commencement of his duty with the Iowa Army National Guard. Check back here for pictures and more ponderings on this unique event.
