Congraduations!

It's that time of year again. People all over this great land are finishing up a chapter in their education and moving on to the text book called life. I want to send out a big, smiley "Congrats!" to all those folks that are graduating. You've made it! Way to go! Boo-ya!

Last night before our show, we (HFT) started sharing stories about graduation ceremonies. What I began to realize was that these "commencement exercises," though boring and long winded, can provide for some very funny and memorable experiences. Between the four of us we had a wealth of funny stories, all taking place in and around graduation ceremonies. Tall guys getting paid money to trip, the air horn families, all the folks at Wes' graduation.

So as I get ready to attend the graduation of my girlfriend today, I am expectant of what fun I can and will have. Despite the speeches, the sore behind, and the massive onslaught of body heat, I know I'll come away from the experience with a funny story to tell. Until then...share your graduation stories with us. You know you have them. You'll feel better if you get them off your chest.

Your Own Personal Jesus

Check out FoxNews.com's article entitled, Jesus Chic is Latest Fasion Trend. Very interesting. I guess I'm not necessarily comforted by the fact that Pamela Anderson is wearing a shirt with Jesus on it...I don't know, call me crazy!

What is cool though, is that Craig Gross of XXXchurch.com fame was interviewed for the article. Way to go Craig!!!

Bad Movie Streak

Greetings from the Lake Street Dunn Bros!

As I sit here pondering the finer things in life, I am hit with the fact that I have seen a ton of bad movies lately. Ususally, I have sought out bad movies on purpose for the education on "what is out there", or for the pleasure of laughing at the movie's pain. But lately, it seems that bad movies have been seeking me out. What do these movies want? Are they seeking to learn from me? Are they laughing at my pain? If so, LEAVE ME ALONE! If not, what brings me to rent these movies and sit through them?

Well, let's do a quick case study shall we? The specific movies in recent question are, "Cold Creek Manor" and "The Hulk."

First, Cold Creek Manor. This one is a wash. I can find no actual reason or excuse for renting this movie. The proposed plot is cliche right from the get go...family escapes from the city and into the bliss of a big rural home. Previous owner is a psychpathic killer who wants his home back and makes trouble for the family. A horse is killed and thrown in a pool. It really just writes itself from there. Let's move on...

Then there was The Hulk. I must admit I fell for this one hook, line and Computer Generated Character. All the elements seemed to be there. Ang Lee, Jennifer Connelly, Eric Bana and Nick Nolte...well...okay, so there was some warning. But, it really seemed like it could have been something. In the end, I felt that I had wasted a quality evening with my girlfriend. Sure, the movie looked cool and the acting wasn't bad, but it didn't really have substance. Especially (and I'll eat my words for saying this) in the "relationship" arena. I didn't believe that anyone actually really cared about anyone else. This lack of "love" really made the Hulk's bouncing around in the desert much less believable.

Well, I guess I haven't really answered my original question about why I've been watching bad movies lately. But, I have gotten a lot off my chest. I'm sure I'll write back here many times in the future about more choice selections...but until then, I'll just go watch New York Minute.
