We HappyFunTime folks are always excited about Christmas because it is a chance to celebrate the amazing thing that happened 2000 years ago. God became flesh and walked around with us, loved us, served us, and then died for our sins. Wow.
We live in a world that has sanitized the significance of Christmas right out. Christmas certainly has become a holiday of warm fuzzies and eggnog, Santa Claus and Old Navy commercials. We've really lost the awe that should be felt at Christmas time.
It's hard to see the Gospel message come through in suburban yard decorations or Midnight Madness Sales. It's not very obvious that we are supposed to be celebrating someone's birthday on Christmas Day. And it certainly doesn't come across in the clay-mation specials, as cool as they are, that we are celebrating the birthday of the Son of God.
You know, I've met a few people in my life that have had their birthdays on Christmas Day. They inevitably say that they feel overlooked on their birthdays. They feel like they are an afterthought. I wonder if Jesus feels that way on His birthday, too.
Just in case He does, HappyFunTime has created a Christmas card that we think sums up how Jesus has been taken out of the Christmas equation. Feel free to use it. Or not.

No one remembers your birthday when it falls on Christmas.
Hey folks. Us HFT'ers are about 1/4 of the way through our Christmas tour with your friend and mine, Peder Eide. So far, the shows have been a blast.
We kicked it off in Minnesota with a concert at Peder's home church, Hosanna! The name of the church is "Hosanna!" not "Hosanna". See the diffrence? As a founding member of a group called "HappyFunTime" (not "Happy Fun Time" or "Happy Fun Times" or "Happy Times"), I can feel the pain of the poor office people at Hosanna! that spend way too much time trying to explain this to people.
It was a great show for a great crowd.
Then we went to St. Charles, IL and performed at the Arcada Theater. This theater was really cool. It's an old vaudville theater that still shows movies, plays and concerts like our little tour. Once again, a really fun show for a really great bunch of folks.
Next, we're heading off to Michigan, North Dakota, Nebraska and Wisconsin. Who knows? Maybe we'll see you there! Just go to happyfuntime.com and click on our "view schedule" tv at the top to see where we'll be and how to get tickets!
