Man, that was a long, lousy winter. Phew. But ... Summer is FINALLY here.
Eureka.
For HFT, that means a crazy summer of touring, meeting nice folks, and making people giggle. We're heading off to New York next week. We'll also be at LiFest in Osh Kosh, WI.. and in Indiana ... and Florida ... all sorts of places really. Check out our calendar to see when we'll be near you.
That's our summer. But we want to hear about your summer. What's the skinny? What will you be doing this summer?
Posted by HFT Wes at May 24, 2005 02:56 PM | TrackBackWell my summer is action packed as well. The wife and I are headed to Ghana for 3 weeks to experience life on that particular mission field and discern whether or not we want to pursue said life on a full time basis next year.
Should be fun.
Posted by: jeremy at May 31, 2005 12:22 PMIs this New Mexico Jeremy?! Tell me more about this Ghana trip!
Posted by: HFT Wes at May 31, 2005 06:04 PMWell yes it is. We are going with para-church organization, Lutheran Bible Translators or LBT for those that hate to type, as part of a 3 week immersion they offer to allow prospective missionaries a chance to get a feel for what a bible translator does to show us that it's not all glitz and glamour like the movies.
Posted by: NM Jer at June 3, 2005 09:45 AMWhen are you guys going on this 3 week immersion dealio? And what do you need to go?
Posted by: HFT Wes at June 13, 2005 02:45 PMWe leave for Ghana on July 15 and get back August 5. As for what we need to go...
Plane tickets
Registration Fee
personal hygiene supplies
mosquito net
bug spray
anti-malarial medication
immunizations
in flight movie
a good hat (i've got the best in the world)
and of course, a cage for the monkey i find.
Wow. I'll see what we have lying around the house, here. As far as the monkey goes, the speaker at Rainbow Christian Camp last week, Jim Bergin, informed us that monkeys, while cute and fun when they are young, usually grow up to bite your face off. I realize that was a run-on sentence but that doesn't make it any less true, Jeremy. Monkeys will bite your face off. I inform because I care.
Hey, maybe you could keep us posted as to how your trip is going whilst away. Will you have internet access there? If so, would you like to be a guest blogger? Let me know what you think.
Posted by: HFT Wes at June 20, 2005 03:07 PMSure, I'd love to be a guest blogger. I could even send you a picture to post after we get back. I'm hoping to have internet access at least once or twice while we're there, but we'll have to see. We're moving around quite a bit.
Here's another cool development for our trip too. There's an organization here in town called 16:15 that helps churches fulfill the great comission. This organization makes soccer balls that say Jesus Loves you on them in 63 different languages. We sold them in church the past two Sundays and sold 100 of them to take with us to give to schools and stuff. It'll be neat.
Posted by: NM Jer at June 21, 2005 12:08 PMAwesome. That's really cool about the soccer balls. Hey, if you have internet access, just email me what you want to "blog" and if you can send pics, I'll put them up to. Otherwise, do what you can and we'll do what we can and everybody will do stuff that they can do!
You'll be in our prayers!
